Retrofitting (PLC-based)
Modernize a legacy or existing PLC-based system — take full control with a retrofitted PLC, or connect read-only to the PLC you already have — and run QB Control on top of your existing hardware.
How it works
Run QB Control on hardware you already own.
You have a legacy or existing PLC-based system you want to modify. We either retrofit the PLC and the electrical connectivity needed for a full control overtake, or — where possible — connect to your existing PLC read-only. QB Control then runs on top of it (full overtake) or alongside it (read-only). You keep your existing hardware, now with a new PLC and QB Control's capabilities.
Options
Full overtake or read-only.
- Full control overtake
Retrofit PLC + connectivity
We retrofit the PLC and the required electrical connectivity, and QB Control takes over control of the system.
- Read-only
Connect to your existing PLC
Where the existing PLC allows, we connect read-only and run QB Control next to it for monitoring and data.
In practice
What this looks like in practice.
- Bioreactors
QB Control on Sartorius towers
Run QB Control on top of Sartorius bioreactors (B-DCU / D-DCU towers).
- CIP / recipes
User-managed CIP, no reprogramming
Build new control logic with more user-managed options — e.g. modify a CIP system with user-managed recipes for phases and steps, without PLC reprogramming by an integrator or vendor.
- New devices
New control software, no PLC access
Deploy QB Control as new control software after adding new devices or sensors — even when there is no vendor or access to the existing PLC program.
