Open architecture
Open by architecture. Integrate with everything.
QB Control is standards-based and vendor-neutral. It speaks the protocols your equipment and plant already use, so a software-defined QB system drops into your environment instead of replacing it.
Open by design
Software-defined means open.
We don't lock data inside a proprietary box. QB Control is designed to both consume from and expose to the systems around it — equipment below, plant systems above, informatics alongside.
Protocols
The protocols your plant already runs.
| Protocol | QB Control role | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| OPC-UA | Client and Server | Bidirectional integration with DCS/SCADA, PLCs and plant systems; expose QB data upward, consume equipment data |
| Modbus (TCP/RTU) | Client / Master | Pumps, drives, sensors and field devices |
| MQTT | Publisher / Subscriber | IIoT telemetry, lightweight edge/cloud messaging |
| REST / HTTP API | Client & Server | LIMS/ELN, MES, data platforms, custom apps, automation scripts |
| Vendor drivers / SDK | Adapter | Instrument-specific connectors (analyzers, balances, chillers) |
Client and server, simultaneously: QB Control exposes its live data and state to plant systems (DCS, SCADA, historians) as an OPC-UA server — and consumes data from equipment, PLCs and upstream DCS as a client — at the same time.
What you can connect
Equipment, plant systems, informatics and other control software.
-
Equipment & instruments
Pumps, drives, balances, sensors, analyzers, thermostats/chillers, valves.
-
Plant systems
DCS, SCADA, PLCs, MES, data historians.
-
Informatics
LIMS, ELN, data platforms and custom applications.
-
Third-party control
Coexist with or hand off to other vendors' control systems.
Extensible
New connectors are straightforward.
Our open architecture and SDK make adding instruments and systems simple. Tell us what you need to connect and we'll scope it.
Frequently asked
Which protocols does QB Control support?
OPC-UA (client and server), Modbus TCP/RTU, MQTT, REST/HTTP API, plus vendor drivers and an SDK for instrument-specific connectors.
Can QB Control integrate with a DCS or SCADA system?
Yes. Via OPC-UA, QB Control exposes its data to DCS/SCADA as a server and consumes data from PLCs and equipment as a client, simultaneously. It can coexist with or hand off to third-party control software.
Does QB Control connect to LIMS or ELN systems?
Yes — through its REST/HTTP API, QB Control integrates with LIMS, ELN, MES, data platforms and custom applications.
